I Miss Country Music..

I just made a playlist on grooveshark with all country music because I needed a little homegrown music in my life.  The music here is awesome and I love the constant dance-themed styles, but I’ll never stop loving some good ol country music.  (Free - Zac Brown Band)

Anyways - I know I haven’t made a text post in a while, but I’ve also been posting photo-blogs, so if you haven’t checked those out, go click the sweet picture of me at the top of the page and scroll down to check those out.  The reason I haven’t been updating as much is because I made some pretty sweet friends in my class.  These 3 girls and 1 guy were from Spain and left yesterday, so I was spending a lot of time with them this past week to make sure they never forgot how cool Americans were.

So ya, last weekend we went and checked out Berlin and it was a pretty good trip.  We hoped on the SBahn Friday morning which was about a 4 hour train ride, arrived at Berlin’s Hauptbahnhof, and took a taxi to our hostel.  Now before I get into the hostel, I want to give some advice for train travelers… so we were talking to a lady about getting 4 tickets from Hamburg-Berlin, the lady looked for a bit and came back with a combined price of 136 Euro.  One of the girls told me to ask if they had a cheaper price or a slower train - so after asking, the lady said ahhh ha, yes here is a lower price.. 30 Euros.  So remember, if you don’t mind, always ask for more stops and ‘slower trains’ haha.

Anyways, I had no problem with the hostel.  Like I said before, the only other memory I had of hostels were from the movie and so I was completely and fully satisfied as long as I didn’t die in my sleep.  According to my friends though, this hostel wasn’t the best one out there haha.  So, after getting all settled in, we went out to Berlin’s center and checked out a couple things as well as checked tour prices for the next day.  We came back, showered and went to a little sit down place for food and drinks for the rest of the night.  One of the friends got her wallet stolen and so we had to get up early to check with the embassy if she could fly back to Spain……. but the embassy was closed for the weekend haha.  So, instead we took the next 6 hours touring around Berlin on the Sightseeing tour bus.

Berlin is a beautiful city with so much to see.  I would recommend that anyone goes and checks out Berlin - but don’t try to do it 1 or 2 days.. there is SO much to see here, and you really need 3 or 4 days to really appreciate everything.  My favorite parts were the Jewish Memorial Museum, The Brandenburg Gate, Gendarmenmarkt, and the enormity of the Berlin Hauptbahnhof.

All of that to say, it was great weekend.  This week was a fun last week spent with the Spaniards and capped off by going out on Thursday night to the Reeperbahn dressed up in Aerobic gear.  People might have thought we were crazy but we got into a disco for free and got some free drinks because of it haha.  Anyways, I only had one picture taken on my phone, but once I get some of the other ones, I’ll make sure to post those on my facebook.  Here’s the picture:

This is me and Sara - you could say she’s kind of cool.  What you can’t see in this picture are my white spandex under my shorts or my sweet fanny pack.  Anyways - it was an awesome time and I was sad to see them all leave, but I’m hoping this next month I make a breakthrough in my German and hope to meet some new people in my class.  I’m loving it here and am so blessed to have this opportunity.  Keep on reading, I’ll try to update more often.  Until next time - God Bless!
